We invest in early-stage companies. We make our initial investments in Pre-seed, Seed and, occasionally, Series A rounds. Come see us, we would like to meet you at the very beginning. We specialize in helping you scale when your resources are most expensive (equity-wise) and in positioning you strongly for the next round. We do expect you to have strong market validation. The more traction and technology de-risking you come with, the better.

Our initial investment ranges from $750k-$4M depending on the round and opportunity.

Yes, Cardumen is a word in Spanish. It means a school of fish of different species, but similar sizes, that unite to protect themselves from predators and move faster. This represents well Cardumen Capital’s stakeholders, our team, our investors and portfolio companies. All different but united for a common cause.

We have a diverse set of investors, geographically spread across Europe, Latin America and Asia. The majority of our shareholders are institutional investors and corporations in the energy, infrastructure, banking, logistics and insurance sectors. The rest of the capital comes from family offices and high net worth individuals that include former CEOs who bring additional value in terms of industry expertise, connections and advice.

In order to reach a due diligence with Cardumen Capital, two of our partners need to agree on pursuing the investment opportunity. Once the due diligence is initiated, we will run reference checks of your team leveraging on our extensive network. We will also connect with your design partners and early customers to understand what they think about you and your company. In order for the process to be a value-add exercise for you we will also try to connect you to potential clients who will give us unbiased feedback. Additionally, we would like to receive as much information as you have created (business plan, cap table, competitor analysis, product feature roadmap). This will be critical for us to understand the business aspects of your company. Technology wise, our team is well positioned to review your software or hardware architecture and we may connect you to domain experts to receive their feedback. Our lawyers will run a legal due diligence in parallel. This whole process will take from one to two weeks. At times we are able to move much faster, and if there is no time pressure we may take longer. We will always communicate timelines.

We invest in companies with a strong technological component or Deep Tech. We are technology experts with deep understanding of AI, Cybersecurity and Big Data. These technologies converge in many industries. We invest in both software and hardware. Some areas we are currently looking at include Developer Tools, Creator Economy, IoT and Industry 4.0, Future of Work.

Yes, the vast majority of the time we lead rounds. Having said that, we work well with other VCs and strategic investors as co-leads and, at times, even follow.

Yes. We are quick to double down but only follow-on if the entrepreneurs are hitting their milestones. A follow-on round is not guaranteed. We will be very transparent; and you will know at each point in time where we stand in the process.

We invest in Israeli entrepreneurs. Some of the companies we invest in are legally Delaware c-corps. As long as there is an Israeli in the founding-team we are open to investing.
